Rules
- Deliver only one newspaper and one of each leaflet to all properties on your round
- Push the paper all the way through the letterbox, a paper left sticking out of a letterbox is a signal to thieves that a house is empty
- Do not leave papers on steps, driveways or in gates and hedges
- Close any gates behind you
- Double check your round card for any properties not to be delivered to, also do not deliver to empty houses or any houses with a notice asking for no free papers / leaflets. If these addresses are not on your round card, tell your Agent.
- Dumping of papers / leaflets will result in immediate dismissal; report any leftovers to your agent
- Your Agent and our telephone team check all rounds and any reports of non-deliveries on your round will be investigated immediately
- Deliver to all properties on your round card
Hazards
Strangers
- Do not accept anything from someone you don't know
- If you think you could be being followed, get to somewhere busy with plenty of people quickly and phone the police and your parents
- If someone pulls up beside you in a car or van, turn around and walk in the opposite direction - you can turn quicker than a vehicle
- Don't go anywhere with anyone you don't know, even if they say they've been sent by your family
Dogs
- Be aware of any dogs in houses or gardens where you deliver
- Don't risk being bitten whilst out on your round, report any problem animals to your Agent
Keeping Safe
- Secure mobile phones and any other valuables, perhaps look into security coding your mobile
- Do not enter any house which you are delivering to
- Let your parents / guardians know what time you will arrive home after your round, be sure to contact them if you are going to be late
Lift, Load and Deliver
- We keep all bundle weights below 13.5 kilos check the weight and size of your bundles - if they seem too heavy, break the bundles into smaller loads or ask someone to help you move them
- Don't carry more than is comfortable - it is your responsibility to know your capacity
- When you lift a bundle, bend your knees and keep your back straight: let you legs not your back take the strain
- Trolleys are provided for every round, and these must be used to deliver the newspapers and leaflets, do NOT use any other form of trolley or shoulder bag to deliver
- You must leave your trolley at the end of any driveways whilst you deliver the paper, we do not want any cars being scratched
- If your trolley is not returned at the end of your service, your last round payment will be withheld
Remember!
- Wear bright clothes
- Use comfortable footwear
- Use the green cross code STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! THINK!
- Don't carry a heavy load
- Work permits must be completed, signed and returned
- Check the weather and be prepared
- Check the route before you deliver
- Your Agent will call at your house weekly with your papers, leaflets and pay, there will be no need to visit them
- Your leaflets may be delivered on a separate day to your newspapers and these should be inserted into each newspaper for delivery
- Inform your agent of any holiday plans - it is your responsibility to find someone to cover your round whilst you are away
- You need to arrange with your Agent a safe point for newspapers and leaflets to be dropped - we don't want any accidents if these are left in an public walkway
Your Agent
Your Agent is in charge of a number of distributors within your local area. They sort out the quantity of papers and leaflets each distributor needs in order to complete their round, and provide any equipment needed such as trolleys. Your Agent is your first point of contact for any of the following:
- Shortage of papers and/or leaflets
- Holidays
- Any new properties that are being built on your round
- Any empty properties
- Any problems/queries with households on your round
- Any dogs in properties that worry you
Remember your agent is there to help you.
